What Peppol is
Peppol is not a file format and not a website. It is a network that service providers use to deliver e-invoices to each other.
The network
A supplier hands an invoice to its service provider; the provider looks up the recipient's address in the Peppol directory and delivers the invoice to the recipient's provider, who passes it on. Belgium, Slovakia and other countries use Peppol as the default route for domestic B2B e-invoices.
The format
Invoices on Peppol use Peppol BIS Billing 3.0, a specialisation of EN 16931 in the UBL syntax (CII is also defined). Its rules are published by OpenPeppol. This site checks a Peppol invoice against the European standard underneath (EN 16931); the Peppol rules themselves are not included yet.
Addresses
A business is found on Peppol by an identifier with a scheme number in front: in Belgium the company number under scheme 0208, in Slovakia the tax number (DIČ) under scheme 0245. An invoice carries the seller's and buyer's addresses in its electronic-address fields (BT-34 and BT-49).
This site is not part of the Peppol network: it is not a service provider and cannot receive or deliver anything. It reads a file you already have, on your device.
